A genius plot... Redfern Workshop 2006

Possibly one of the last "clean" Grey Ghost cars in captivity.
It was securely marshalled behind tight weldmesh with not
even enough room to squeeze your body in between comfortably..
Situated right on the Mainline at Redfern outside the old
maintenance sheds we thought it was a good idea to
just massacre the fence to access the virgin mammoth..
Which all sounded well and good.. But pretty fucked up.
On arrival after assessing the assignment we realised
we could cut our labour in half by clipping the wire that secured
the mesh in place and then cut a few uprights and lift it..
The whole length of the car..
Now about 20 metres and an hour or more into the mission
we needed some steel poles to support the weight of it.. Hah!!
Found some freakishly located close by, so we propped
up the tent and let the circus begin.. We had to cut it into
8ft lengths cause it was far to heavy and buckled the supports...
The thought of so many kilos of steel looming over your head
made you a little nervous but this bitch was now ours
for the taking...




























Seccos came really close by in the building next door and startled
us, so we dropped the fence and left, stashed our paint on the lines
and noticed 5.0 sweeping the massive vacant lot with spotties
towards the back of this old yard (we were now outside)..
We crept passed and got to the safety of the car.
As we hit the lights and pulled out, 5.0 drove into the darkened
street we were in, did a u-turn and followed us for about 6 blocks..
They hooked it off, so we headed to the other side of Redfern back
on track to finish..
I was buggin about the surface, with vents, boxes and hand rails,
so different from a Briso rattler or the standard ridges on an
EMU/SMU car..
Next thing was like "Fark, it's like 8am, the suns fully up!!"
Services are all go for the new day and we were still fuckin
around doing do-dads.. Time to jet..
So we head back up to Redfern Platform not even ducking from
trains..
This piece of decaying machinery now brought to life, sat there
for 2 years untouched bringing joy to thousands of commuters
daily..

Until one day it disappeared without a trace...
